Fundraisers from Around the World
And while hundreds of thousands of fundraisers were created in 2021 by changemakers around the globe, here are a few special moments of profound impact…

Afghan Airlift & Beyond
As thousands of Afghan nationals were stranded at the Kabul airport in the aftermath of Kabul’s fall to the Taliban, Afghan Airlift and Beyond miraculously raised over $3 million toward chartering A340 aircrafts for evacuations, sustaining and protecting refugees, and processing Afghan evacuees inside the U.S. In cooperation with the International Rescue Committee, up to $5 million of donations were matched to help facilitate their journey out of Afghanistan, and eventually the Afghan Airlift: NewLife Support fund launched in order to continue supporting the families brought to safety, already raising $64,000.

REIMAGINE Miriam’s House
Nestled in a busy corner of West Los Angeles is a 50’s era five-bedroom home called Miriam’s House. It used to house nuns, but ever since 2007 it has been providing sober living to low income mothers and their children.
After 15 years of leasing the home, the Promises Foundation was finally able to purchase it and began raising funds to update the old, worn property to provide a dignified home for its residents. Now, Miriam’s Home can continue to provide a safe space for women to recover, achieve long-term sobriety, reunite them with their children, and help to disrupt the intergenerational cycle of poverty and addiction.

A Write to Education
The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation topped off their 6-week mental health awareness campaign, “The Unspoken Curriculum” with the hour-long virtual event “A Write to Education: My Mental Health Matters,” raising funds towards improving the mental health of Black youth in the education system. Sponsored by Zoom, the event featured a live moderated discussion between award-winning actress Taraji P. Henson and Yara Shahidi, as well as Hip Hop Therapy with Common, Jill Scott and Maimouna Youssef (Mumu Fresh), emphasizing how creating music can be a healthy tool for young people and adults to express themselves. The money they raised continues to empower the foundation to support the mental health of Black students and families and allow them to continue offering services such as free therapy, training for educators, and AfterSchool Hangouts.

StoryTime with Beverly Cleary
In honor of renowned children's author Beverly Cleary who passed away in March, StoryTime with Beverly Cleary began as a fundraiser to aid economically disadvantaged school districts in need of books, notebooks, pencils, backpacks, food, and other essentials, as well as spread the icon’s passion for reading and writing. Cleary’s granddaughter Margaret, along with an amazing panel of speakers, aim to change the inequitable American school system through supporting FIRSTBOOK Foundation in their monthly 24-hour live show held on Clubhouse.

Transanta
The holidays can be particularly tough on those who may already feel isolated and alone, which is why social media campaign @transanta launched their initiative to connect “santas” everywhere with trans youth in need. Recognizing that many trans people are in unsafe conditions which have only been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the program connects donors with trans youth who are houseless, in foster care, in detention, in abusive or unsafe housing situations, or otherwise without vital support. Through anonymous and safe gift-giving, they are able to receive the gifts they want and the affirmation they need from people all over the world.

Pickleball Rally for Charity 2021
To close out the year and celebrate their October achievement of Guinness World Records® Longest Pickleball Rally, Angelo and Ettore Rossetti (aka "the Rossetti Brothers") raised funds and awareness for Save the Children. Their 16,046 shot record-breaker took a staggering 6 hours and 11 minutes on World Mental Health Day. The brothers intended to surpass 15,000 shots in order to bring awareness to the 15,000 children under the age of 5 who die every day due to preventable or treatable causes.

Ariel’s Birthday “Party” - Feeding 100 Families with Friends In Deed
While many of us were forced to celebrate special occasions a little differently this year due to the pandemic, a 29 year-old in Pasadena chose to use her birthday for good, organizing a food drive to help low-income families impacted by COVID-19. She was able to triple her original goal to feed 100 families, stocking the shelves of her local food pantry with necessities for those struggling through the pandemic’s first winter.

Help Growing Hope Gardens!
In a mission to provide homeless shelter and affordable housing residents in Los Angeles with fresh food, a sense of community, and agency, Hope Gardens Shelter put on their only fundraiser of the year with the goal of starting 5 new food gardens. With over $31,000 raised, the first garden funded will serve the 225 unhoused mothers & children of the Union Rescue Mission’s Hope Gardens Shelter, and help alleviate feelings of institutionalization and isolation.

4KINSHIP Diné Skate Garden Project
Grammy Award Nominated Singer/Songwriter and activist Jewel, her Inspiring Children Foundation, along with Wonders Around the World (WAW), raised funds to provide a skatepark to Diné youth on Navajo Nation, who have no outdoor sport recreational facilities. The project collaborates with the indigenous community in order to provide a safe and inclusive space that empowers strength and resilience after the hardships faced during the pandemic. Done in respect of Diné land and culture, the initiative plants seeds of the future with a community garden practicing traditional agriculture and harvesting, which promotes food sovereignty and reintroduces ancestral crops in a communal space.

Because of your #PledgeToDoGood in 2021, the world benefited in countless ways from the impact that you helped to make. We’re proud to be your partner in powering generosity and look forward to the impact we will make together in 2022 and beyond!
